I hit the river today..Sorry no pics just thought I’d drop a quick post.
The water temp has finally fallen I was making 44 degrees when I launched today..

Before I got away from the landing I was smiling

Well the plastic bite is happening..
    I just lit-em-up!!!!
It was a 40 fish day with two over 21 inches..
I was on the water six hours…
Just an awesome bite. They are just slamming the jigs..

My best presentation was vertical jigging…1/4 & 5/16 oz heads..
Plastics Super doos, Ringies, and Assassins…The latter getting the best results snap jigging.
Best water was the 22 foot inside turns on the sand Had the biggest sauger holding.
However I caught fish in all depths…the size was different is all.
Some nicer walleyes came from 12 and 14 foot depths..

There were times through the day that just hovering the bait was the trigger..
But most the day I was snap jigging with a big thump on the other end..
Good luck and let the big ones go..
Pictures and a better report Sunday night..
I got two more days to fish…gotta get to bed…

    Vandy:

I got to ask the question, considering you were hovering baits in 21′ of water, were you drifting? Also, in the snap jigging, I remember an old in-fisherman article talking about snapjigging while trolling. Are you casting to riprap, drifting and snapping back to the boat? Thanks in advance!!!

I’m vertical on top of my jigs. With a quick pop of the rod tip, to jump the bait 4 or 5 inches.
Some times I put more of 45 degree angle to snap them.
At other times you just hover them.
Staying overtop of the jigs and with the new hard lines you can feel the fish breathe on it.
When the bite happens this is my favorite way to catch them. I just luv it when they pound the bait. But you have to follow your baits down the river so boat control is a factor.
Hope this helps and good luck next time out.

Fished Redwing on the 9th for the third time ever. Started up by the dam like everybody else trying ringworms first followed by sonars but only caught a few small saugers. Finally went to superdoo’s in catalpa orange and ice blue and the saugers loved them. 25-30 ft. was best for us.

    Alright!!

    Way to DOO IT!!

I wished I had figured it out sooner on Sunday..

I had been getting my fish on the 20 to 22 foot edge the previous days.

It took me until 1:00 pm to finally move out deeper..and I got a few bigger fish… I got some on the pink and the lime green doo’s..

    Thanks…
