You know… I was going to mention this in my Ringworm post…. but I just have to give Steve a big thanks for kicking in the free launch pass as a prize for the launch to the launch story winner…… Like a few others I have pretty much kicked the ice fishing habit and I fish RedWing often ALL winter long… so Ive been fishing out of Everts for years……

let me tell you the place has improved remarkably under Steves management….. and I recomend anyone fishing in the winter to stop by there….. its just not worth the risk launching at the steeper and MUCH slicker “free” launch in the Wisconsin channel….. Ive always been happy to pay the launch fee at Everts… happy because that money bought me great peace of mind that I would be able to get in AND out of the launch… and I never worried about my rig while I fished….

let me tell you… Ive been on the wrong end of sliding a truck into the water at a slick launch… or it being soooo slick that the only way I could recover my boat was to hook a rope to it and pull it up the ramp! (not recomended with MOST boats!)…. so even though my rig is worth next to nothing I STILL pay the fees and launch at Everts….. I cant imagine having a nice rig and NOT launching there…. the facilities are great…… even a bait and tackle shop now….. and a fish cleaning house… (though I THINK you have to be careful there… something about not being able to clean walleyes because they have a 15 inch length limit and its kinda tough to measure a fillet…..)

    anyway… thanks Steve!!!!

I know this has been asked and answer more than once, pleae forgive me. How do I get to Everts from the cities via Red Wing??? I assume that is the shortest/best route??? I’m coming down from Burnsville.

Hey Waterfowler. From Red Wing, cross the main channel bridge. Go another mile and a half and cross the backchannel bridge. Go left immediately after the bridge (by Mr. Sippi’s bar). Go up hill to stop sign and go left. Go 1 mile and hang a left at “Everts” sign. In the near future I’ll have a map and rates for other services here on the FTR website. That should help everyone out. Thanks for the inquiry and thanks Rivereyes for the comments on the place. It’s nice to know people appreciate the hard work and long hours that were put in here! And I can’t take all the credit. There were many people that helped out after the flood to get this place back up and running. Thanks again!

Im one of the worlds worst direction providers… but here goes…. hopefully someone else will add more than 2 cents worth……

first, if you know how to get to the Wisconsin channel launch (just cross the river bridge in Red Wing, when you come to the next bridge thats the Wisconsin channel)….. you cross the bridge at the Wisconsin channel….. take the first left (immediatly across the bridge)…. follow that up the hill and eventually to a T intersection…. take a left and follow that road around a bend… you will see the sign for Everts resort, on the left side of the road… the whole distance from the bridge must be something like maybe 3 miles? really.. its not too hard to find…… I found it the first time with NO directions… I just knew where it sat on the river and followed the roads I thought that would put me there… and there I was…..

Thanks Guys. Maybe I’ll see ya Sat am early. It’s suppose to be really cold, but how can a guy pass up fishing when they are biting like this. Plus the worse the conditions, the less people you have to put up with…..
