I was out with a customer on Sunday and had a fantastic day. We started the day casting rip rap with hair and plastics. Pearl blue s/p K-grubs and black hair did the trick. It was a slow morning pitching for us, we only had 6 fish, 23″ being the biggest and a couple of eaters. The rest of the eye’s were in the 21″ class. Our casting bite died after those 6 fish so we headed for the dam area at about 1:00 and really spanked the nice sauger and 16″ to 18″ eye’s on blade baits. Got a few on hair as well, never really gave plastics much of a chance since the blad baits were going so good for us. Ended the trip with just short of 30 legal fish . 12′ to 15′ was my best depth, the smaller fish were found deeper for me.

The big un’s eluded me on this day but I will stay in the hunt !

We made a trip to the river this past weekend looking for some Walleyes. We fished Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Spent the first 3 hrs. Sat. vertical jigging the break line on the main channel. Nothing there. Decided to go pitch some jigs along rip rap. We followed your advice and found rip rap with deep water close by. Within 15 minutes we started catching Walleyes and Crappies. We caught fish all the way untill dark. It was a blast. Sunday morning we fished the same area but only caught a couple. Overall it was an excellent trip. Thanks for all the fishing reports and tips. It works.
