Took my 4 year old today on pool 5. I was out there for about 15 minutes and haven’t caught a fish and then in the front of the boat I hear ” daddy help me, help me , i got one” . my little boy fishing with his snoopy pole and his1/2 oz. jig lands his first walleye ever- with no assistance form me what so ever. I finally got my first fish of the day 1/2 hour later. I asked him how he did that and he said all you have to do is say ” here fishy fishy bite my hook”. He wouldn’t tell me any other secrets yet, but I am working on him.

As a parent I’d have to say ‘priceless’ sums that story up! Thanks for sharing.

MAN I can’t wait for my boy to go out with me! However, I don’t want things to happen too fast. Pretty cool stuff going on now!!!

Good story, most everyone with kids has a story of their first fish or their first “big” fish. The fun is just beginning!

Be careful fireflick, my daughter, who is 9 now, has been consistently outfishing me since she was 6. She has her eye on a PWT spot when she is 16. I told her 18 was a better goal!

Thanks for sharing, it brings back memories!

All right! on a snoopy pole to boot. I take my 16 year old every now and then when we go with Dustin. Started him when he was 3 on the same kinda snoopy pole. Now he can even out fish Dustin and I once in awhile. thanx for the memories.

I started taking my youngest son Nate out fishing when he was 2 years old. Actually we both started fishing when he was 2 years old. Its a great way to spend time with a son or daughter. Its memories that will last a life time and a great experience to share . Now Nate is on the water more than I am. Just goes to show that it is a love for the water and fishing that you both can share together for a life time. Bill

I wonder how many kids have started fishing with a snoopy pole? Both my son and my daughter did. And I gotta say that even when they are teenagers and can’t agree with Dad on anything, they will still call a truce and go with you fishing or hunting…it’s a wonderfull life we have outdoors and those pictures of grinning 4 year olds with snoopy poles and sunfish are proof of it!……..B
