I am a rookie when it comes to fishing the Mississippi River system. I bought a boat this year and finally decided to give the river a try. I have put in at Roschen in Lake City twice and Wabasha once and have caught something each time out. The few walleye that I have caught have come off of 3-ways with a leech on a floater in water around 17 feet. I have also tried trolling cranks, but since I don’t have lead-core or didn’t try any line weights, I primarily fished 12 FOW or less. No walleye, but have done OK catching some white bass. What should I expect as fall approaches? Will the Lake City area continue to hold fish or will the river be a better choice? Are there other presentations that I should consider? Thanks for any advice. I have become hooked on fishing Pepin / Miss. River and look forward to my next trip.
