After being completely humbled for eyes on Pool 4 last week I decided to go to Pool 5 and target some fish that are in their prime right now. The morning started out very cool and foggy, which we knew would be very good or very bad. The cooler weather had really broken down the algae and left us much more open water to work with. Most of our fish all came in the open water until the sun rose in the sky and then they all looked for cover.
We had many, many slimers and the bass numbers were good but quality was down. The best bait of the day was a spinnerbait, with a Hula Popper a very close 2cd. The fish were so active that my son caught 2 fish on one cast. If you haven’t gotten out for the top water bite, I would get out in the next couple of weeks it’s a blast.
