I have got to confess that I haven’t fished pool 10 for over a month…I actually can’t remember when the last time I was out on pool 10…I was talking to a couple of guys who were up to the Lynxville dam on Saturday and the grass was so thick that they said the river was un-fishable I have seen this last year too. there is so much grass coming down that your couldn’t even vertical jig without having the grass get caught up on your line. It sounds like it is all through out the water colum…It’s been like this for several years now….I do remember when there wasn’t this much grass in the late summer into winter…So I ask…what has changed ? What has made all this grass come down out of the shallows from up stream ? How far up stream is this a problem ? How far down stream is this a problem ?

I fished Red Wing this last weekend and it was very easy to run any presentation without debree, other than shad, get in the way. Years past in Trempeleau for the fall bite I can never remember grass in the water, just the usual river debree. Hope this helps…….

4-5 of the gates on the Wi side of L & D #7 were packed solid with weeds coming off the lake. I haven’t talked to anyone that’s fished down there so I don’t know how that’s affected the fishing. I have seen lots of weed clumps floating down the Black River and the channel just below the French Island spillway.

Pool 14 has been very tough with grass from time to time all year. It was bad here a week ago when I was last out. Pulling cranks was impossible, but vertical jigging could keep a line in the water for a few minutes before having to bring it in and shake it off.
