After a month-long absence from Pool 2, I finally got out on the water with my youngest son, Mitch. The game plan was to check out the walleye bite for an hour and then set up for some catfish toward sunset. We were able to pick up a quick 21″ walleye trolling cranks on some shallow rockpiles and then it was time to set up for the cats.
Mitch and I pitched our chicken liver treats over the back side of a wingdam known to hold our targeted species. After letting the livers soak for a half hour, we decided to check our bait. As Mitch was dragging his bait back up to the boat, he got hit…hard!!! Oh boy…a nice catfish coming up for him, or so I thought. After a couple of good runs, we got it to the boat. What we ended up netting was a beautiful 24″ walleye.
