went fishing over the weekend in the alma area and did reasonably well catching walleyes and bass. friday found us trolling cranks in back water sloughs and catching many short walleyes with the occasional keeper making it into the net. did catch a real nice 21″ whopper on a green flicker shad. spent the rest of the weekend pitching jigs with crawlers and worms and pulling cranks. managed to catch several keepers and put back many, many 13″-14.75″ walleye and sauger. we also caught a whole mess of smallmouth and largemouth that were busting minnows into shallow sandy points. all in all a very good three days of fishing, the weather was great and the fish were cooperating. what more can a guy ask? firetiger or green seemed to be the color of choice and the smaller the lure the better with #5 seeming to be the size of choice. most of my fish came on flicker shads while my fishing partner was using rapalas almost exclusively. get out and fish.
