I have heard 5, 5a, 6, &7 Dams the saugers have been hitting well , everything else seems slow to normal. Not sure what will happen with this colder weather, maybe the eyes will move closer to the dam areas as well.
Sauger have been biting good! Keeper sized sauger are another thing. In a day of fishing, two guys can pull together a one man limit. The walleyes right below Dam 6 have been running about 6″ to 8″ and rare. I’ve been fishing with some rookies, so I concentrated on numbers and not size. What’s happening further downstream, I can’t say. I had heard the same stories about catching a limit of sauger in less than an hour and a half, but from what I’ve seen, a lot of people consider a 10 or 11 inch sand pike to be “keepers”.
