Snuck out to pool 2 from the 494 access area last night. I had a couple areas in mind that I wanted to check out as these spots start to turn on this time of year. Water temp was 55.5 to start the evening and the wind was out of the south at about 5-10 mph. First stop was a deep water area that a friend of mine had done well at last Saturday. The fish he had going were hitting cranks retrieved aggressively from shoreline casts. The fish were relatively tight to shore in about 4 feet of water as the boat hovered over nearly 20 feet. I caught 2 walleye that went about 18 inches and another 2 white bass with this approach.
Next stop had me trolling a rip rapped shoreline keeping the boat in 7-10 feet of water. I had just started this presentation when this fish hit.
I had a #7 Clown colored Shad rap out about 50 feet. Trolling speed was under 1.5 mph as I was just crawling along with the bow mount. Still, I was occasionally ticking bottom as the current helped impart action to the crank. This fish turned out to be the best one of the night A nice fat-bellied healthy looking 25.5 incher that put up quite the tussle!

I caught one more sub 20 inch fish on the next pass and had to vacate the area quickly as a barge snuck up on me and started to work barges near the area. kinda spooked me! I do not like being in between a barge and rip-rap at night!! lol
Last stop had me anchored on a wing dam that produced nothing for me on plastics or cranks. I ended the evening there listening to the Twins on the radio. The evening passed by way to quick…. This weekend I will have the opportunity to fish later into the night. I’m sure there are fish on the wing dams now, just need to figure out which ones!
