    Beaver,

    That hair jig article for starts is great!

    What do you call the jighead in the article picture that is on top tied with silver/grey hair the slimmer profile jighead? Second when you tie the jigs are you using wax thread? If so what diameter/thickness of wax thread do you recommend. Those a great looking jigs!!

    The jig head is from a tapered tube jig mold. It has a 60 degree eye and is designed to slip into a tube. They’re great for casting. Stick with the smaller hook because the mold calls for an extra heavy hook. No problem setting the hook, beleive me. There’s no collar, I tie directly on the hook shank and dress the hook with extra thread first. I use Danvilles Flymaster Plus size A. I`ve been using the tapered tube head for a couple of years now and I’ve found that the 60 degree eye helps hug the bottom better and gets hung up alot less. It’s not what the head was designed for, but it works great for a hairjig application.
