OK, so its not quite 17 Lb’s…. but close enough! These two incredible shots come out to us from Dan Tuinstra and shows Dan with a 16 Lb 10 ounce walleye and his fishing buddy Steve Mieden from WI holding a 13 Lb 4 ounce monster!

In Dan’s own words “Thought the midwest folks would enjoy the big ones. I just got the pictures returned from several days fishing the full moon on the Columbia River. WOW what a trip! My partner and I really did well. Just a quick highlight list: 16 lb 10 oz, 13 lb 12 oz, 13 lb 4 oz, 12 lb 5 oz with six fish around the 9/10 lb range. Almost all came on plugs at night. What a thrill to see such healthy big fish. All but 4 much smaller eaters were released to grow more.

One of the other highlight/ lowlights was taking my fishing partner (Steve Mieden from Wisconsin) into the emergency room to have a treble hook removed. Of course the nurse on duty had the best line of the night, “ Looks like you caught yourself a big sucker!” When it was all said and done we returned to the river in less than an hour, whereupon he hooked the 13 lb 4 oz fish!”

Thanks a ton for these pics Dan.

Wow! What a couple of beasts. Columbia River here I come. Well maybe not this next week but in years to come it would be a real hoot to make it out that way and stick a couple of those big eyes.

    See ya on the river.

Very very nice fish guys. Hey, KHS is my alma mater also. They (kicked) me out long before Dan arrived tho. Drawing on what I learned in Geo. class, the Columbia R. is west of Ia., right?
