    Hello Everyone.

Fished Lynxville Friday fishing was tough. Caught 10 total, but I would have to say that the 10 that we did catch were very nice. Saw alot of other boats catching dinks, and every sauger and 2 walleyes that we did catch Were nice. Its kind of funny The bite turned on for about 20 minutes and we got 8 of our 10 in those 20 mins. Then boom it was over. We left around 430. We had our best luck in 20-24 feet of water. Alot of others were fishing in 10-16ft but it seemed as if the bigger fish were out deeper. Here was a new one for me. There were these two old guys out there that were anchored. I was back trolling, and made a pass about 25 ft in front of a old guy that was anchored. These guys started to cast right at us!…I could not believe it. Then the driver of the boat cast right across the end of my boat and hooked my rod!!..LOL… I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I did not know whether or not to have an absolute fit and pull the guy into the water by his pole, or just to laugh. I chose the later. His line wrapped around my rod 3 thime and I patiently unwrapped it and dropped it in the water. After wards I chose to troll very close to the two of them and let them know without saying anything that the river did not belong to the two of them….I do not know how many times I can say this, and not sound like an [censored]. But I truly could not believe that they were doing that…It still makes me chuckle now and again. I believe that if thay had been younger that the senario would have been much different. Anyways, good luck to everyone.

I believe the politicaly correct thing to do in your situation you did very well….except for one thing ……when undoing the line a clippers is in order and you are the new owner of his hardware !! The river is full of them but just remember there are alot more of us !!

    keep smiling !!

had something similar up in Redwing last week….. I was trolling 3ways up river very slowly…. and this one guy would cast right into my path… he did it 4 times.. and I hooked his line 4 times….. each time he would look right at me and cast in front of me…… my path was at LEAST 40 feet to the side of him….. he was anchored and fishing directly down river of his boat a short distance, until I would troll slowly by….. each time I would just laugh unhook his line and toss it gently back in….. I guess he figured since he was anchored he had a no fish zone going……

thats what we get for fishing by the “dam” crowd…… the best solution is just to fish somewhere else, these guys wont learn, this guy did it EVERY time, but like you I was NOT going to let him dictacte the trolling pass I chose, I was NOT enchroaching, what do the rest of you think as far as trolling pass etiquette? what kind of distance should an anchored be allowed to “control”? I personally give them 30 feet, unless I hit an area so tight I cant help it, but If I hit an area that tight, I wont go through it again, and I may not enter it in the first place, usually its simply NOT worth going into a crowd……….

Im taking a whole new approach to these things… there are a few guys like that around but it can only wreck your day if you let it!….. I just laugh it off and keep having fun fishing…. they can wreck THEIR day if they want…..

I fished Lynxville last Wed. Man, the weeds are really a hazard! I did manage a bunch of nice saugers vertically jigging Super-Dos. Saw alot of fish caught on blade baits….some of which were actually caught in the mouth.

I know that I started a poll about a sauger size limit, but the opposite thing was happeneing on Wed. Nice female saugers, loaded with eggs, a bunch pushing 2+ pounds were very uncerimoniously “strung up” on anchor line and taken home. There were enough fish being caught that you could sort through and still take home a meals worth. Remember the limit is 10 down there, so I figure that the four boats tied up to the wall, a total of 11 guys yanking blades, 10 fish a piece with 75% of them female……you do the math.

    SELECTIVE HARVEST

It was funny when I was working that area and one guy asked the other about the fishtheriver decals on my boat……”That`s the web site I told you about where they wanted to change the limits and stuff.” “Kinda stupid. This is the best sauger fishing that I`ve had in years”!

I hope you read this. Enjoy it while you can. If you and your buddies keep doing what you’re doing the good ‘ol days won’t last for long.

River eyes,, I like to fish away from the crowd almost always….once in a while, especially when I have friends come up they like to fish and jig for sauger….. so we go near the dam on that ledge…. there are some very good spots up there that are like “spots on spots” it is no secret….. what I ALWAYS like to do is drift down staying on the ledge and then repeat….. it used to be that you could get a bunch of boat;s doing that some technique and everyone one was happy and following each other down river saying on the ledge…….

The tendency now is for people to camp on the “hot spot” and think that they have the rights within a 30 yd radius of there boat…. It is like they are sticking a flag out and saying that “this is my area” I just laugh and waite for tomarrow or the next day…… this is not a big deal to me because there are 1000’s of spots that I have not explored and about a 100 that I know can go and possibly catch fish……. but if you want a quick couple of fish for a meal and you don’t want to spend all day….. there anchoring can get annoying……. and yes I realize that is an effective way to fish…… I DO THE SAME THING near the wingdams and then cast it and work it over…..

I also realize that when the people do that…… if you troll or drift near them……. they send out a waring shot across your path as to say “stay out” I have found that if you are obnoxiosly nice to them they really hate it………. good fishing to all….. and practice good etiquette…… (notice I don’t know how to spell)

yep Mavz I know exactly what your saying… I know a few of those spots too… whats really funny is some of the anchor men (pun?), seem to watch the “drifters” (punx2?)… and when they zero in the spot that the fish are being “hit” they pull right in there and anchor… THEN they pull the DONT come near me.. this spot is MINE….. personally I find that to be quite RUDE…. I have a lot more respect if the “anchor man” at least finds the spot on his own and dont rip it off from the rest of us…..

but again, like you say, its the price that we pay to fish at the dam in the crowd, out of every crowd for sure there are one or two “bad eggs” that give everyone a bad name….. by and large most of the anchor men dont protest if you stay out of their lines, which are straight down river of their boats a short distance…. and of couse we ALL know the penalty of finding their anchor rope…. they get some new lures…..

Last summer a buddy and I fished the dam at Central City on the Wapsi and some guys went wading right out into the water in front of us. There was an older gent sitting on the bank a little closer to the dam that us who wasn’t feeling as neighborly as us. He put on a large weight and treble hook, cast across, and pulled all their rods right out of their hands.

I’ve seen this time and time again at Lynxville. It accually gets to be a game, not just at the dam, but even on the wing dams. If someone would see you catch a fish, they move right in on you and anchor. So when it is time to move to a different spot you wave your dip net high in the air so everyone sees it, when they move in to anchor…… you leave!!!!

Sorry about the censored word, I did not think it was very unapproporate. I have been working so much this year I was just so excited to be able to be out at all. For a monent I allowed them to ruin my day, but quickly decided that it was just not worth it. I have a question pertaining to Beavers response. Ill be honest that I was going out to try and get some fish on the table and the nice saugers that I kept I did have two that had a good groupe of eggs. I did feel bad. I always do when I see eggs in a fish I take home to eat. Are there signs that I can look for in a walleye, sauger, that are tale-tell signs that they are full of eggs? Well thanks for all the good response, I feel good that there are others that overlook the goofey people. Good luck all. GO RAMS!!! I would change my favorite team if there was a “Minnesota walleyes”, or “Green Bay Saugers”, and possibly even a “Chicago Carp”,,,, )
