I tried to get on some ice this morning with my boat on pool 8..The ice was fine but the fishing was garbage. With 0 fish under my belt (save for a snagged catfish while walleye fishing the channel) by around 12:30, I decided to head for the dam. I was soon met by Justin Panno and the excursion was on we didn’t have an amazing day by any means but we caught a few nice fish. We aren’t walleye pros ya know

The best bite we found was dragging 1/4 oz heads with ring worms on a shelf from 19 fow into 24 fow. We kept the boat at 24 fow and avoided the small saugers that everyone was catching vertically in deeper water. The best color of the day was a junebug with a chartreuse tail. Overall not a numbers day but the quality of the fish was nice. Pictured here is justin with a fatty 18-1/2″ walleye, and next is me with two good eaters. I did catch one about 18″ earlier but released quickly without the thought of a picture

The water temperature is anywhere from 32 degrees to 35 degrees. Ramps are in good shape as of this afternoon, but this morning they were a bear for me

    good luck.

We kept 12 nice eaters today on 7 pulling leadcore around. I did take a pic of the 12 eaters and will post it when I remember to grab my camera from my buddies house. 8 eyes and 4 Saugers all between 16-1/2″ and 19″.

We did catch one of those fish with a hair jig and minnow while I was messing with my GPS. That was the only fish we caught jigging (my partner was just jigging for a few minutes while I was playing).

The key today was pulling lead in 15-23′ of water at speeds between 1mph and 2mph.

Here’s pics of yesterdays catch. These fish were all between 16-1/2″ and 19″. The biggest one was kept to smoke. The crank bite was good to us allready, it looks like a good year is in store.

He’s up there looking for the Pro’s….

I’m guessing he doesn’t know what Cade’s boat looks like.

    Here you go:

I can pretty much tell you where this boat will be for a majority of the season.

on another note. I’m trying my best to learn this early spring walleye fishing stuff its not my number 1 favorite thing to do, but its nice to keep entertained when the bass are still sitting under the ice somewhere

Ice fishing this year really made me understand fish movement a lot more. Last year i wouldn’t have known any better but to go jig in 40 ft of water at 7 in the morning now I realize that there are nice fish to be caught in shallow water at these times. I caught this fish in no deeper than 16 feet pitching a 1/8 oz jig and ringworm. It was unfortunately the only walleye of the day, as the wind picked up and it was too much for my boat to handle I’ll see what I can do tomorrow…

I wouldn’t want to reveal your spots Cade…they get pounded enough by the locals!

I want you to draw me as a boater this year in the youth club…I’d like to see how much you’ve progressed since the last time.

yeah that would be neat. I’ll admit that first tourney last year i was a nervous wreck..however if i’m paired with you and you feel like fishing, how about you can throw a booyah spinnerbait, and I’ll throw the war-eagle this time

I don’t think it was so much as the kind of spinnerbait, but more the location of which it was thrown and how it was presented.

Not at all. It was all about the War Eagle.

Either way – not bad considering both Cade and Welch threw over it first and never got bit

managed on 17″ buck last night before the wind blew us away. 30 minutes in I looked back at my fishing partner and all he said was “bloody” so off to del’s we went from there. I’ll be out this afternoon from 2-?

i was out yesterday morning with Justin..We fished some backwater stuff and thought we found some fish. I got a 18-3/4″ eye and a 15″er and then the bite just shut right off The fish were caught vertical jigging in 18 ft. along a deep hole. We tried pulling three ways/sticks and snagged sheephead. I then put on a small jig with a minnow, and still snagged sheephead the 18-3/4″ fish was pretty sweet, otherwise another mediocre day for me
