We headed out yesterday for our 1’st trip to pool 16.We got on the water about 8:45 and headed for the dam. There was already 15-20 boats up there we sat back and watched for a few minutes to see how they were woking the area. Then we joined in,we were verical jigging and it started out slow but after we made a few passes and got to look over the depth finder to see what was below us for depth and bottom structure we found a few areas we could catch fish.We stayed at the dam pretty much all day catching a few fish here and there.Bite picked up a little from about 9:30 till 11:00 and then once again from about 4:00 till 5:00 then pretty much died.Had our best luck in 18-24 ft. of water.Green and orange hair jigs with meat worked best for us.It sure felt good to get out on the water,we did take a cruise down river to see what the Rock river confluence looked like and there was alot of big chunks of ice coming down through there.River is rising so don’t wait to long to get out.I brought home 5 fish,1 eye and 4 sauger and buddy took home 1 eye 3 sauger.Should be fresh fish for supper tonight.
