    Pool 16 treated very well last night. I started out down by Buffalo an worked a couple of wingdams down that way and had a good some good results on them. I started out trolling cranks. When I found the fish I wanted, I anchored up and threw some plastics and hooked up with some better fish.

    I made my way up river and fish Enchanted Island,and boy where the fish up there where much nicer. I boated some really nice fish. Ever fish I got there hit like a freight train. The ticket there was a electric blue with a pearl tail ring worm.

    Just before coming in I stopped at my favorite wingdam off Credit Island, and it really paid off. I hooked up with a 9.34 hog. I will have pics of it when I get them back from Osco. I got it on a Wally Diver Minnow that I was trolling on the flat right above it. Over all it was a great night out.

    By the way, that fish was released.

    Thats a nice fish. I’ve heard of 7 pound saugers coming from that area, any truth to that?

    How fast do you recommend trolling, how deep closer to the channel or in by shore? Please share with another Catch and release guy

    Whoa,,, I’m puting the Ole crappie rods away & heading east. Sounds like good walleye action awaits me, maybe next week. You ever try casting tube jigs above the wing dams? {John}

    Hey there Mossy,
    The sauger population is very good here on 16, but I have not seen one bigger than 4.75 lbs or heard of anyone caughting one larger than that.

    Bigesox,
    I was trolling between 1.5 and 1.8 mph on a flat just down river on an inside bend in 9ft of water. The fish where right on the current break.

    Thanks River Rat. It’s been raining here on and off all day. Should be cold and windy tomorrow. Post-cold front conditions, sure wish I could fish when I want not just when I can. I guess that’s what retirement is all about.

    Here’s one I got last night. I was pitching a electric blue/pearl ringworm. It’s not the best way to hold a fish for a picture,I just wanted to get her back in the water as fast as I could,plus I dont want anyone to see my face….lol……

    Nice Fish RR!

    I’ve released a ton of nice fish from those same areas! My friend boated (and released) a 32″ walleye near enchanted island one spring! Nice to hear others are releasing the big boys too!

    What kind of boat you in? I’ll shout out if I see you sometime. I’m in a red Lund 1650 with 50 horse Merc. I’ll be out there sometime this weekend.

    Hey Jeff,

    I run a Alumacraft Magmun 175CS with a Merc.125 and a Yamaha T8 kicker. I’m usually out there during the week after 4pm. When I’m out there on the weekends, it’s early. I leave the river when the pleasure boater’s hit it. In about a week I’ll be out there much longer since the pleasure boating season will be over. If you see me, please stop by and introduce yourself. I enjoy meeting new people all the time. If you’re going this weekend, start down at the end of Enchanted Island . Also the flat right below the 280 bridge has been pretty good to me lately. Have fun and stay safe. P.S. I have to work saturday, but the wife and I will be out there sunday.
