Headed out on Pepin this morning with a little sauger and walleye action in mind. We found our sweetspot in 19 fow. There we marked lots of fish. There were many fish that would hard charge your bait only to turn around after taking a look at it for a few minutes We put the camera down to see what the problem was. Confused as all get out, we tried about everything to figure out what the problem was. We watched numerous walleye and sauger and we just couldn’t get a commitment out of them. Probably a good thing we didn’t get into them good, as the camera battery was dead after one picture. This 17 inch sauger fell to a buckshot rattle spoon tipped with a half of a minnow. This was the first time we have ice fished Pepin, and we will be back again after this challenging morning.

Thanks for the report. Were you on the MN or the WI side of the Lake? I have not ice fished Pepin before but noticed plenty of folks around Reeds Landing and LaCoupils(sp?) on the way to the Cities last weekend.

    Thanks again

We were on the Minnesota side. We were north of Lake City, but not around the crowds. I try to avoid were everyone else is at most of the time. I have found that we can usually find more consistant fish away from everyone else, although we just cant always make them bite
