    Hey all,

    I am new to this website. I was referred here by someone in chicagolandfishing.com, the format is pretty much the same. Some of us Illinoisians are heading to the pool nine area (De Soto). What are the propsects for Walleye in the area. If so does anyone have any particular area of success.

    Hey Valleye, WE fished lock and dam no.5 last fall. The tecnique were going to use, if everything else fails is vertical jigging with minnows. Start at the bottom, making contact with it and jig making contact while you float away from the dam or drift around. This produced for us with our guide telling us this is a good producer for numbers of fish. WE used 1/2 ounce jigs in 30′ of water, good luck and bring lots of minnows.

    Last year about the 1st week of Oct there were some real hogs caught out of the desoto lake area from 200 yds below the boat houses to the Miss. R. channel. The bait fish were in there thick & it took Trolling cranks to get them. ” surprised everyone ” If that don’t work try the wings at the bottom of the lake & also drifting at the lower end could produce some walleye action. Oh::: The closing wing dam at the top of De soto has also been a top producer. {John}

    I just got back from camping near Blackhawk Park. Spent 2 weeks having a ball with bass, crappie, bluegills and walleyes. Try trolling the clam beds in Minnesota Slough. Worked for me. They are also on the wingdams early and late. Good luck.

    What were you trolling with? Was one speed better than another ? What were you using on the wing dams ? Plastics or cranks ?

    Thanks in advance for the info !!

    I was trolling with a 3 way. Jig and green-black back shad body and a perch wally diver..small size. On the wingdams and rocky points I was using a clown regular size wally diver. There are BASS everywhere. 30 to 40 a day while I was there. All on the main channel. Good luck.

    From reading all the reports from the diffrent articles the one thing im picking out is the fish are moving at night and being taken on crankbaits all up and down the river. Anybody else getting that idea? Local reserviour, all pools on the miss, mille lac.

    Stop down and see Bob Lansing Marina. He has been doing really well and has that secret bait. All vertical Jigging.
