RIgs and stick baits

I have heard several times of people pulling rigs. Are these rigs, spinner rigs on 3 ways/bottom bouncers? I have had some success pulling large spinner rigs with 3 ways when fishing the head of the lake, but have not tried them up towards the dam on pool 4. I would guess that pulling them upstream in the faster current would create an enticing sight for a large walleye, especially when using a larger blade on the spinner. Are the crawler rigs that are talked about, spinner rigs also? Like on a crawler harness? What about stick baits on 3 ways, do they have the same effect? I have used jigs for the most part when fishing the pool 4, and have been successful, but I am interested in trying some rigs. Any help would be appreciated.

    TBO,

Typically, when I think of a Crawler Rig for the river, it would be a 3-way back to a plain hook or floater. (Like a phelps floater or northland gumdrop) Most of the time this rig is tipped with a half crawler. When I think of a Crawler Harness it is just that, multiple hook harness with a blade.

Small stick baits can be run both on a 3-way or bottom bouncer. I prefer a 3-way over a bottom bouncer. Most snags come at the weight. If you break off, you only lose the weight, not the entire rig.

When I refer to pulling rigs its usually just a real simple 3-way and a hook or floating jig head. Nothing fancy but boy does it work well. I’ve not experimented too much with spinners in the cooler waters of fall – spring but I’ve heard of and seen some fish caught doing it. Now that the leaves are starting to clear up out of the river pulling 3-ways and cranks should really start to shine.
