What species are ya’ after? The fluekiger’s are pretty darn knowledgable about this area in question and will likely be by shortly to help ya’ out.

We usually fish for walleye & sauger. But as long as we catch em it doesent matter a bad day fishing is better then a good day at work!

    Firefaus,

Pool 5 is an excellent pool for walleye and saugers. If you like structure fishing this the place to do it. Pool 5 is loaded with wingdams. If you have never fished wingdams this might help you.

Otherwise starting at the dam is the best place for most people. Trolling or vertical jigging is the most common. If you can find sandflats with current on them try throwing a ringworm, hair or a big kalin on them. Let us know how you do. I will be back on pool 5 when all these tournament are done at the end of the month.

Hey fire, If your looking for a good guide get ahold of Jarrad, fireflick, he’s a very good guide and knows his water well around lock and dam 4 and 5. We hired his services last october 31st, holloween and we fished below dam 5 and had a ball. we caught so many fish that, well the bottom of our 48 quart igloo cooler was black with minnows, probably 50 t0 60 dozen and we used them all that day. caught over 200 fish probably of various sizes. Got enough too eat the next couple of days and too take some home. Hire Jarrad, he’s very knowlegeable and knows the river there plus offered us shore luch but were too busy catching fish plus it was an off day. The fish were biting every other day and we just hit the off day, unreal hey? 200 on the off day is worth going again. when we went, in late october the artic swans were at riecks marsh. Its a must see for anyone, believe me! plus the old miss was full of thousands of geese and millions of ducks, what a place the upper miss is in the fall, HIre jarrad you’ll be glad you did.

Oh I remember now. If my memory serves me right we did see a good number of fish. Lots on the small side but just enough to take home some nice eaters. AND I think you donated a rod to the mighty Mississppi that day Glad you had fun. Gotta love fall.

Your lucky you didn’t take Jarrad up on his shore lunch. He’s been known to make fish
patties out of leftover fat heads
but he is a good fisherman and an ok guy to be in the boat with.
