I heard at Hastings Outdoors today that someone brought in a 48″ Pike from Dushanes! The big Pike are on a bite from Dushanes to Clear Lake below Etter. If anyone knows who this was, have them post up a picture! Also, Tony Siewart of Hastings caught and released a 32″ walleye from Lake Rebecca! WOW!

I used to do a lot of fishing at Dushanes. There are some hog northerns there. Lake Rebecca was stocked with walleye years ago but if this was one of those it would be ancient. I was told that the walleye in there did not reproduce. I probably came in from the river during high water. 48″ northern; what a pig.

I used to fish Lake Rebecca all the time when I lived in Rockford. That little lake used to be on fire for LMB,Walleye and I even boated some nice Muskies there too…

    Tuck-
Any walleye/sauger reports from the Vermillion yet? Seems early for that, but this year has been strange….

Ec, wrong lake. I was talking about the one in Hastings. It was stocked years ago, and was flooded out here a couple of years back, leading people to wonder what is in the lake yet. The Vermillion is doing well for walleye east of Etter close to Clear Lake. Trolling #7 Shad Raps along the North shore in about 8′ of water. I have heard nothing about Blackbird yet….I have caught 2 pike over 40″ out of Dushanes, there are some pigs there. I was down there when the DNR netted a pike that the dude said would have been the new State record had it been caught on a line…

The best one I heard about Rebecca was that, during the floods, “it was introduced to a variety of new species”.

I heard about the northern that the dnr netted in the Vermillion. That was a couple of years ago. The story I heard is that the northern was pushing 50 lbs. Imagine that fish.

Ive spoke with some of the fisheries guys that worked the nets in those areas… they always told me to fish there for giant pike because the ARE there… but no one really fishes them….. they get them in their nets though….

Upper Clear was always known in the past for carrying good pike in the system. There are a multitude of springs, so water is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. However, the past few years, there has been some slim pickings. The good old days are difinetly gone, but there are always good pike coming out by Duchenes during ice season. For being small water, you have great pike, walleye, crappie, and sunnie action!!! Even some good bass on occasion……

With the water being so low this year, it hasn’t helped a whole lot, but they are there……
