What is a good game plan for this weekend- going after walleye, sauger or crappies? I was thinking Pool 2, lower Croix or Pool 4? Which is my best bet for some quick action?

I do know that in some of the backwater spots on pool 4 the crappies and gils are really turned on. That’s all I know

I am heading to the Croix. I fished Pool 2 (Hidden Falls/Ford dam) a couple of weeks ago and it was slow. I am going to give it a few more weeks to stablize before heading out.

I just love the chances of hooking a big sturgeon along with the walleyes this time of year on the Croix. From what others have posted Pool 3 is hit or miss, Pool 4 is heating up again.

The sauger bite below the dam on pool 4 is really heating up with reports of good 16″ to 17″ fish common. Just about anything has taken fish for guys but the people using blade baits are doing the best in 15′ to 6′ of water on the WI side of the dam. If that side is crowded move over to the MN side and check things out there should be some good fish over on that side also.

    Good fishin!

Dustin is correct the wisconsin side is crowded (pool 4) but the minnesota side is producing nice table size fish……
