Are things ever going to straiten out for the fall bite this year. I put in at day break this morning in shorts and a t-shirt not what you would expect for october. The water is muddy the river temp is still 71 degrees and the eel grass is every where wasn’t looking good . I probably hit twenty spots between Rapids City and Camanche only boated 2 Eyes a 23incher and a 17.5 they came out of the same little eddy. The current is ripping making most typical fall spots unfishable . The fish were caught on white hair jig and a tab of crawler. We caught several bass today even a few keeper size that looked like footballs. The bass and walleyes are really thick must be all the bait in the river right know. The forecast looks like the cooler weather will be here next week I hope that will improve the bite.

Hopefully water temps will cool down in the next week or 2, of course then ill be torn between going fishing or sitting in a tree stand. The treestand usauly wins but iam wanting to do more fall fishing this year. things are real slow down here right now to.

Thanks jigfan, you make it a little easier for me to handle not being able to fish for the last couple months! Hopefully in a couple weeks I’ll be able to start getting out some, maybe the water will be in better shape and I really hope a little cooler!

Ok this is more or less a DITTO report from yesterday Oct 7th, but hey, I did make it out for once. Action was very slow, the flow very fast, and debris made for all kinds of headaches. I didn’t get a single fish boated until around sunset, when we found a 15″ walleye along the Camanche marina rip-rap casting a silver wallydiver in about 4 feet of water. Late evening water temps were 69F. Forecast wise, you betcha we are in for some real, water chilling colder weather. Wind + Chilly air + clear nights should bring things back to normal soon!!
