Quick pool 2 update. Hit the river last night for a few hours just as that front was moving through the cities. The first hour was pretty windy, dropping temps and a passing T-Storm. Got blown off the first spot and quickly moved to a spot tucked out of the wind. Suzuki Mike and I were focusing on casting cranks to exposed shoreline rip rap, daymarkers and wingdams. Basically anywhere that had some rock. Caught a mix of fish during the second hour. Nothing big, but still fun putting a bend in the rod. As we were pushing into hour three, the sun is setting and the rising moon is tickling the tree tops. That’s when we pretty much double up on a couple nice P2 piggys. Mike sticks the first one. Quick CPR and within the next couple casts, I poke this eye. Great way to end the day.

Wish we could have camped out there for the night as I believe the low light hours are key right now on P2. I think a guy could do fairly well pulling cranks shallow at night down there. Hhhhmmmmmm…… Mille Lacs or Pool 2 this weekend. So many fish, so little time!

    Nice fish boys! Wow…

I went down there this afternoon. It was too nice to stay at work. I managed to:
    1) Catch my PB Pool 2 Smallie…17 inches of jumping pandemonium. I completely messed up the picture however
    2) 5 minutes later I had another solid hit. The fish came right up to the top and I thought wow, does that fish have a large mouth! Then I realized that it was a Largemouth. In three years of fishing P2 that’s my first LMB.
    3) I’m still finding mongo White Bass on the wingdams. This one hit and then sat there and I couldn’t move it right away.
    4) Then my trolling motor battery gacked after 4.5 hours I bailed at that point, probably leaving too early to find any Walleyes. Tomorrow I’m buying a new battery!

Oh, and they put that first red can back in place south of the 494 bridge.

Nice fish guys. I’m going to get out on P2 Sunday and see if I can track down of few of those eyes myself.

Way to go Jon & Mike

Ya gotta love those bombers… cast like a bullet and not too expensive when I cast a little too far inside of the top ….B
