Pool 2….Walleye!

I hit my usual spots on Pool 2 this afternoon expecting more multi-species action on crankbaits. Maybe the latest cold front has slowed them down. It was pretty quiet until I managed to find two White bass and they were both monsters, both over 16 inches!

Then instead of fishing rock I decided to hit some sand. That’s where I found this big girl. 23 1/2 inches. She flopped right when the shutter opened so this isn’t the best picture. I was by myself I didn’t want to mess around so back she went.

The second picture is just south of the 494 Bridge access. Where the heck is the red can that used to be there??? It’s tough enough for us amateurs to find wingdams on the river without the landmarks disappearing! It was there last Saturday. I was also worried that it might be 2 inches under water and I’d “find” it again.

    Way to go there Rootski
I knew you’d connect with some eyes down there. Can’t wait to hit that section of river again. It’s just around the corner. Hopefully run into you down there soon.

I was out on Sunday and noticed the first can south of 494 missing as well. I think it was further down the river towards the middle of the channel. The barges were having fun trying to steer around it.

It was a bit slow for us – a handful of white bass, a sheepie and one 24″ eye. The eye was caught in shallow water off a deep break in one of the few areas we found current.

    Come on fall bite….
