spent the weekend fishing pool 5 mostly for walleye and did reasonably well. started out casting firetiger bombers to wingdams and scraped a couple keepers off in about 2-3 hours time, along with some bass, northerns, and stripers. then i started trolling and things picked up considerably. managed to catch several nice 15″ to 20″ walleyes and saugers over the three days trolling #5 JSR firetiger rapalas with 155ft of line going about 3.2 mph downstream and 2.0 mph upstream. i was fishing mostly 14 to 16 FOW near structure but not on it, mostly hitting current seams near some sort of structure. all in all it was a good trip. the weather was fantastic and the river was mostly clean and clear. i would venture a guess that i caught about 100 walleyes/sauger over the weekend with about 85% being short.
