Had the same type of results in A.M. as James in the back channel. In the afternoon we moved to some locations on the Minnesota channel and caught four legals (9+lbs) and missed a bunch more on threeways with floaters and a crawler. The driver(me) had to much caffeine(LOL) in him and couldn’t stay slow enough for the fish so we had a bunch of crawler bites without the fish getting up to the hook. Also gave Nate a thrill when I Tail sided a nice eye with the net and watched him jump out. Okay Lawrence repeat after me- always net fish head first, always net fish head first. Oh well the fish gave me a second chance and came home anyway. The four fish were enough for Nate and I to win the Walleye Searchers club tourney, and put Nate in a pretty solid position for club angler of the year coming into the last two tourneys. I have to say the whole day with Nate was a blast. We fish very similar patterns and it made it quite easy to fish together. Who knows we might spend some time in a boat together next year. It was his call to move to the Minnesota channel . Good call Buddy Lawrence

Good showing guys. Definitely a tough bite yesterday to be sure. I also have done the sloppy net thing! Just ask Steve about the time I smoked an ‘eye in the nose so hard with a net that it broke 10# XT like thread. In a tourney no less!
Those C-liners have tons of storage and I still couldn’t find anywhere to hide…LOL And boy did I try. Good thing it didn’t cost us anything.
Good job guys.

Was that a team tourny James, or were you just trying to knock off hougies fish cause it was bigger?LOL
October 9, 2001 at 11:11 pm #234165Good job guys, I hope you can continue the good showing at the rest of the tournaments. Just wondering, how many members are in the club and how many show for each tourney? FISH ON!!!
October 10, 2001 at 12:12 am #234168We have around 70 in club, Usually get about 10 boats for club tournaments.
October 10, 2001 at 6:02 am #234175It was a team tourney… I guess I figured we didn’t need it! You should have seen the size of Hougie’s eyes after that deal!…LOL
Still makes me laugh and Hougie twitch….

Later we laughed about how far it jumped to get out of the net , but it wasn’t funny at the time. James- You could have told him you were trying to knock it out so it was easier to land LOOOL, Yup Croix River Rat – they aren’t big tourneys like the WWA, and MWC, – but we pay our membership and fish all the tourneys for free- for Plaques. But I was glad to get up closer to the 9-14lbs a day I had averaged in the past in Team Tourneys up there . The 4 1/2 lbs a day at the MWC was pretty hard to swallow, especially with prefishing looking so promising. LawrenceOctober 10, 2001 at 10:27 pm #234185Can you send me a private message or just post it if you want, I would like to get some info on dues ,etc. thanksFISH ON!!!

October 11, 2001 at 12:14 am #234189Hello, Walleye Searchers is a Walleye fishing club that meets at 7:00 on the 1st. Monday night of each month at the Elks Club in SE Rochester, MN. We have 8 reg. tournaments per year in which plaques are given out for the top 3 places. We draw for partners at the meetings. For your 1at tourney you can pick your partner. That is how Nate and Lawrence got teamed up, Lawrence picked Nate. Its a great way to learn the river from different fisherman, learn new or different ways to fish, and a great way to teach others the river and techniques. I have been in the club since 1988 and have learned alot from fishing the tourneys. I’ve shared with my son Nate, who belongs to the club, and now he kicks my butt in tourneys. So now I can learn things from him about fishing on the river. Theres always more to learn. Dues are 25.00 per year. Please, everyone, feel free to come to a meeting and ask questions. You can also go to http://www.walleyesearchers.com and learn more about the club. Don’t hesitate to ask more questions or e-mail me if you like. Thanks, Bill
