Just a quick report here. The recent rains have been a big help on upper pool 4 this past week.Stage and flow took a bit of a spike helping the bite out substantially.
Presentations you ask ? Trolling cranks and dragging jigs and live bait have been successfull for anglers here the past few days.Pictured here,James Holst with a very nice fish on his guide trip from this Monday. The Lyons clan also had a very nice fish yesterday as well and will hopefully post the pic when they get home.

The bite is certainly not fantastic but certainly worth your time if you need a fix!

Nice catch. How would you predict the bite to be in Mid September from Redwing up river?

    Dean,

I was out for about 2 1/2 hours last night catten. I picked up a 8 and a 14.5 pound channel cat. Rumor has it that the flatheads are in the more June/July spots although I didn\’t check any of them. I know one boat landed 5 Friday night with the largest coming in at 39 pounds. Live bait and deep holes.

Its good to see someone is still fishing out there. Was out on pool 3 last weekend water was the dirtiest I have ever seen it. The bite was tough for me with 2 smallies and one northern to show for on sunday. But I did notice the water has really cooled down since the last time I was out, I had high 60\\\’s and low 70\\\’s throughout the day, the bite should be on a slow increase now until october.

I also spent the weekend out on pool 4 this weekend. Not a whole lot to show, but like Dean mentioned, the rain and a little cooler water temps have defenitly helped the bite out. Hopefuly it will only get better from here on out into the fall

James-maybe you can get an extend-o arm to get that 14″ eye FURTHER away from you.

The best part of that picture is the sweatshirt. We sure could use some sweatshirt weather down this way. It has been HOT! That is enough incentive to get me motivated to check my calendar.

I forgive you stewart, well not really . It was a decent fish and had very broad shoulders for this time of year. Thanks for the pic though.

Yup, the bite is picking up
We had a good weekend with crappies and eyes. The girl in the pic measured 27.5 and fell for a jointed #5. We also took some nice fish dragging bait with good friend Randy Stevens. A fish or two in each spot seems to be the norm for my boat right now. As Dean said, nothing spectacular, but well worth the effort.

PS. Dean, those St. Croix trolling rods really shine with all the grass/leaves in the river lately. A good sharp sweep of the rod clears alot of fouled baits
