Where did the wingdam walleye pattern go? Two of us for three hours on the river today from Prescott south hitting 6 or 7 wingdams and not so much as a sniff from a walleye. One sheepshead and a very nice 18.5 inch smallmouth and that was it. Tried cranks of verious sizes, shapes, and colors, all having been used with great success just two to four weeks ago. Hmmm? Had a little breeze coming up at us from down stream and saw several areas with dead mayflies floating in abundance. (I’m thinking that could be the answer). Anyone else been out on the wingdams south of Prescott lately? How have you been doing?

We haven’t been out in a couple of weeks but planning on hitting them tomorrow. Our best bite has been on live bait the last few times. I’ll post here after we get back to compare results.

Not a very legit test of the wingdam bite today. We hit the water at the crack of noon and were on the way home by 4:30. We caught 2 19″, an 18″ and a half dozen short fish. The bite seemed a little slower but it was hard to tell between mid day temperatures and a south wind that made casting difficult. It is August so for me every walleye is a bonus right now. Come on October!!!!

Hey there Redneck, Thanks for the update. Sounds like you had the same conditions we had, hot, south wind, etc. I guess I’ll have to try again on Monday and see if my luck has changed any.
