Going up to the miss. on Friday to fish with the old man. Just curious which pool has been hotter for the eyes as of late.

Neither have been terribly “Hot” lately. I would go to 9 just because you have so many more options. The boat traffic on 8 will probably be insane this weekend as well. The flow is up slightly though, that should help.

    Good luck

hi, POOL 9 is easier to figure out around BLACKHAWK Park.,six feet deep off the ramp to main channel.POOL 8 HAS MORE SHALLOW WATER TO DEAL WITH.Walleyes have been hard to catch this time of year, bass wiuld be easier.

We went out of blackhawk yesterday as usual. Been fishing around black hawk for about 15 years now. Had a good day other than we didn’t catch any eyes. Only fished for them for about 30 min then gave up. Caught plenty of big crappies and gills just casting road runners. Caught some real nice smallmouth and some decent size junk fish(largemouth). All in all it was a great day. Must have been a pre tourney fishing day up there because the boys who think they own the river(bass fisherman) were all over and had no respect for anyone out there.

    Here we go again…
Do you realize how ignorant that comment is? Seriously…

Let me guess, they drove to close to you(in your mind). Or…they drove too fast. Or…..they pulled up on the same wingdam you were fishing and you thought they were too close. Yada, Yada, yada….blah, blah, blah…..

I’ve NEVER met a ‘Bass Fisherman’ who thought OR ACTED like they owned the water. So what if they were prefishing for a tourney…They paid for their entry fee, paid for their fishing license and paid for the gear they have(boat included). Why shouldn’t they be able to use it? Would it have made any difference if it’d been a bunch of Walleye fisherman pre-fishing for a Walleye tourney?

Your “junk fish” comment speaks volumes. What really gets me is they were fishing for an entirely different species of fish than you. Probably looking for more of those “junk fish” as you call them. I’d wager those “junk fish” put up a decent fight for you and the people in your boat.

It’s a give and take world. I’ve found while fishing if you ask a fellow angler for help, *i.e. Offer up the places you found your “junk fish”* and politely ask if they’ve found any Walleyes you’d be surprised what the outcome is….

Works for me and my bottom feeders.

Blue…I’m thinking Honda speaks with his tongue in his cheek. He’s been around long enough to actually have some bass fishing friends.

I have respect for them until we are in a narrow slough maybe at the most 20 yards wide and they come wide open past us while we are fishing. To me that is NO respect at all. You can slow down to a no wake and go by the people that is called respect for other fisherman. I slow down ALL the time in the back sloughs for people. Also no I am not talking with my tongue it gets real annoying when that happens. Don’t tell me you have never had that happen either because everyone has.

You singled out a specific group of people and there for left an open book for a tongue lashing in my opinion. Yep, we all have had people fly by, but in a lot of different style boats and different species fisherman.
There always seems to be a big rant every time it happens to someone lately. I don’t get it, do a lot of you really let it wreck your day?

By the way, a level headed Bass Boat Operator (and there are a lot of them ) throw less wake when they are on top of the water than when they are putting by. I’m not saying traffic doesn’t become annoying after a while but it should be expected.

The water brings a good economy to pools 7, 8 and 9, with 8 being very busy. Time to move on and put up with it instead of letting it ruin a day!

And that’s all I got to say about that

Don’t you just hate it when boats are fishing in channels that are travel routes to and from other area’s , then complain about having boats go by them all day…

    just kidding of course

Sorry for speaking. Actually the slough was a dead end slough so before you assume maybe you should ask.

I know there is a certain custom boat maker from a certain town in Iowa who fishes exclusively for crappies in the fall. Two different times, in two different years, this guy has literally bumped my boat while crappie fishing. It’s not like I know the guy. The only time I’ve ever spoken to him was to tell him to watch out for my boat. I’d take a guy zooming by me in the slough anytime over this idiot.

They are everywhere, fish for all species, and have all kinds of boats and motors.

Honda, where it was at don’t really matter. We have many fisherman on IDA..and some bass guys/gals too.

There are good and bad in every “group”. It’s life and life on the water.

I lead a sheltered life on the water. The guys I know are very courteous whether they are bass holes, wallabe fisherman or believe it or not…cat guys.

In fact..the bass holes I know go out of there way to be courteous on the water…because of comments like yours from others. MOST fisherman want to get rid of that stigma.

Honda, You’re probably on the receiving end of our built-up frustration here at IDA. I think most of us are pretty tired of the “walleye versus bass” or the “tourney angler versus weekend angler” ramblings that tend to pop up about once a week here. The fact is, most of the anglers here are good folks who are courteous and respectful on the water, regardless of what species they target, or whether they fish tourneys or not. And, like in any population of people, you have a few bad apples. For any of us, it is pretty frustrating to be criticized for something you never did. That’s why generalized statements like “All bass tourney anglers think they own the lake” cause such a visceral reaction here.

As for the specific incident you noted, I wasn’t there so I can’t comment on it. I will say that people have widely varying opinions on what constitutes proper etiquette on the water, and we could all probably be a little more considerate of our fellow anglers. If that guy or a group of guys crossed the line, shame on them. But I think the point here is, do not cast all the rest of us into the same pit because of their actions.

Time out never said it was anyone on here that went by us. I am just saying it was a person in a bass boat. Doesn’t mean he is a member here. Most of the times it is a big city guy who thinks he owns the world because he has money coming out of his ears. He could be in a bass boat or any other boat. Anyway I am done with this thread moving on. I post one thing and everyone blows it out of proportion. I thought there was something called freedom of speech but who knows the democrats prob. want to take that away as well with our guns.

I think you are all a bunch of wieners. Due to carrer demands, I have fished the river once in ’07. Not good since I have a place right on 9! And the one time I did get out, 12 hours of fishing yielded zero walleyes! So much for scouting!

So keep it in perspective guys, at least you are on the river! How can you all whine about anything at all!

Good luck this year, what’s left of it.

Point missed. I tried. You’d think I would have learned my lesson by now.

This couldn’t be any further from the truth. The whole problem here is with your perception. Ask around and you’ll find there are only a hand full of guys out there running around in brand new $50k+ boats and are “loaded”. The rest of us are every day people just buying used boats at significantly cheaper prices.

Also – freedom of speech?? Nobody said you couldn’t post what you did – but be ready to listen to our freedom of speech responses….

Great, now us Dems are getting blamed.

I guess the most evil person in the world must be a Democrat from Chicago in his $50K Ranger fishing in a bass tournament. He’s probably got a “Repeal the 2nd Amendment” bumper sticker next to “Hillary 2008” on his tow vehicle.

    CR

This is getting quite political, so no problem if it gets dusted.

Was that Obama or Hillary driving that boat?

Honda, it’s all good. Hey, at least you are on the water. Some of can’t even get out this summer.
