Managed to get out on pool 2 a few times this week. Cant say the walleye fishing has been hot but there are fish to be caught. My time on the water has been spent pitching dams, trolling rocks and sand, and even a little live bait dragging. Joel and I did start to get into some saugers the other day trolling crank bait on a sand flat. Trolling down stream in about 12′ of water seemed to be the ticket. We found this bite just before we had to go so didnt get to spend much time on it. I have found good numbers of fish doing this in years past and some days a fair amount of walleyes mixed in.

Any one else been out. Good luck to you guys fishing this weekend.

Thanks for the update Mike. I’m planning on getting down there this weekend, just not sure which day.

I will be down there tomorrow, not early probably mid-morning but I have the day pass and things didn’t seem to get going until later in the morning anyway. We got 4 wednesday morning 20,21,23,24, I wish I could have stayed out all day but we had to be home by noon. I’m on call so I can’t try pool3.See you on the river, I will be th3e guy hitting every wingdam on the river.

I decided to fish this morning and caught some decent fish. I only fished wing dams and caught fish on crawlers and cranks. Boated 3 low 20″ walleyes and one 16″ sauger. Unfortunately my ratio of getting the fish to the boat was not very good. I had 5 fish hooked up only to shake my 7a bomber loose. One felt like a really nice fish. My hookups were only 1 out of 6 for this bait. Grappler shads produced a few fish that never came undone. Maybe the 7a was too big, or just bad luck. The channel cats and white bass are pretty active on the wing dams too. They provide some action while casting for walters.

My day was pretty slow, pulled cranks the whole time and ended up with 22,23 walleyes and a 17 inch sauger, along with several sheepies white bass and a smallie. I didn’t get any trophies but I did see a few trophie wives.

    Hey Sippi!
Didn’t really get the chance; but I meant to introduce myself Wednesday. I was fishing with Mike. You guys pulled out from the boat launch before I got a chance to come over and say “hi” I’ll catch you next time sir!

I was supposed to be home by 12:00 so I had to boggy cause I was already late. I probably won’t see you down there until fall, I usually switch gears this time of the year and do some musky chasing. I spent alot of time on P2 this year and I learned a ton with alot of new spots, I can’t wait for the ringworms this fall.

    Hey Guys,

What landing have you guys been using? I’ll be taking my nephews out tonight and was wondering if Lillydale or Hidden Falls would be best. Maybe it doesn’t matter. It’s been a few months since I’ve been on Pool 2 so I thought I’d ask. Thanks for the info!

Both those landings should be fine. I would just launch closest to where you want to fish. I usually launch at the 494 access since that is closest to my house.
