Well today was ok.The bite is fair but not great.water temp was 79.8degres.I fished wingdams for part of the day and trolled the other part. The wingdam bite was fair the gills are stacked on them right now.I boated 11 eyes off the dams 13 to 17 inches. Here is were it gets fun while I was fishing the wingdam I snapped my Avid inhalf on a hookset .So I call Dean up at Everts to get it sent in while I was talking to him on the phone I stick an absolute sow of an eye. I have my cell in one hand and my rod in the other. My drag is singing, its hard to back reel while on the phone.I finally tell Dean I just stuck a sow have to go because I need to work this fish.I get her up to the boat grab the net not really paying attention to everything and nock her off with the net . It was still a good feeling to have a good fish on.The trolling bite is pretty good alot of sauger and some eyes.I was useing #5 jointed shad rap in Craw color.Targeted 10 to 12 ft of water.Sorry no pics this time mabe tomorrow.Good luck fishing fellas .

A #5 jointed SR5 has no trouble getting down 10-12 feet, especially on a braided line. I don’t have my trollers bible in front of me, but I suspect 140-160 feet would do it, maybe a bit more trolling into current.

If it were me, however, I’d just pull them on leadcore!

I agree. I cast and troll JSR5’s more than any other crank. No problem getting down. I’ve tried the larger/deeper #7’s but the fish seem to like the size and action of the #5’s better. Absolutely my favorite crankbait.

Hey Tony thanks for the report!
Are you trolling main channel borders or side sloughs?

I might actually head up that way this weekend but will be either around blackhawk or around nobles island.
