So whats been happening on pool 2? Anyone been out? I havent been down there since last thursday morning. Picked up 3 fish on wingdams. Planning on heading down again in the morning for some wingdam action and going to try dragging some jigs. Anyone else been out?

I haven’t been there in a while Mike but I’ve heard some good reports from some of the backwater areas. Some pretty impressive fish are being caught trolling cranks fairly shallow right now.

I haven’t been out lately. I keep my eye on this forum, but it’s been pretty quiet. I’ve turned my attention to some area bass lakes, as of late.

I’ve been out a few times fishing the upper half (north of 494)of P2. Most of my success has come from pitching and trolling cranks to wing dams, rock piles and shoreline current breaks. It’s been tough to beat a Bomber 6A in my favorite Mississppi pattern.

No hogs to report, but consistent action.

I was out on thursday afternoon. Pretty slow for my boat. Caught a couple of walleyes and 1 sauger. At least one walleye went a little over 26″s. Tried trolling and dragging one of the back channels with no luck. Started trolling and working main channel rocks and wingdams and thats where I found my fish. Water levels where up a little from a week ago but flow seemed to be down. Looked like there had been a good bug hatch in the last few days also.

Your right Beno. 6A’s took both of my walleyes.

Hope to be back out in the morning.

Nice work Mike! I got out last night for a couple of hours. I decided to leave the spinning stuff at home and focus only on fishing cranks on wingdams. Really wasnt looking for an intense trip, more recreational than anything else.

Headed south of the landing and hit one of my favorite wingdams. I immediatly connected with two 22 inch fish with a couple more strikes. Moved to the next wingdam and down took another fish. Man was I having fun!

Like Mike I was fishing Bombers, casting as far over the wingdam when I hit the rocks I would very my retrive speed, etc. This seemed to trigger some very aggressive strikes. A couple of the fish came up to the surface just a thrashen away.

One “trick” I tried was when the crank hit the wingdam i would move the boat quickly parallel to the wingdam. What I found was this gave me just a hair second more contact with the rocks without overly disrupting my retrieve. I know I will need to work this idea more and fine tune this technique. But it did seem to have some merit.

Ended up with 5 nice Pool 2 Walleyes, several strikes and a minor sunburn. Not bad for a couple of hours.

My son graduated from high school this year, his graduation request was a long canoe trip. Our family of four is heading in Quetico park for 8 nights beginning on Monday. Its amazing smally water, I pretty excited and expect to post some great stories in a couple of week.

    Life is good!

Hey guys, made it out this afternoon, ended up with 3 channels, 2 sheepies, and 2 eyes, the biggest was a nice 26. All the fish came pulling bomber cranks, some casting but all strikes came trolling across the face of the dam. Here is a shot of the 26, I thought she was alot bigger, those Pool 2 eyes are getting enough to eat.
