I have had three days of great fishing with my three grandkids on Pepin.
We caught and released well over 50 legal eyes, kept enough for a few meals and this morning my crew brought in a 30″, 10# eye, largest fish any of them have caught. They will be proud to tell you, they caught it all themselves. Grandpa couldn’t be happier!
We spent most of our time working the deepest water we could find upstream from Methodist beach to the barge lanes for larger fish. We used stick baits with a heavy 3-way rig. Natural colors worked best.
We also put good numbers into the boat in shallower water (14′) off the maiden rock flats with some very large saugers caught in the area.
