I had the chance to fish pool 3 for a couple hours this afternoon from about 3 til 7 pm. And ended up catching a few fish trolling the core across a sand bar.

I was working a current break, actully a point that almost comes out of the water and slowly drops down to 15 ft, both up and down stream and caught a verity of fish!

In the shallow water I was catching strippers and sheepers, and in 10 to 15ft I had a few walleye a 28 and a 26 1/2 and 2 cats one ever 10pds.(he had my heart pumpin!!
The fish seemed to like when the lures bounced off the sand humps if I wasnt dragging them I wasnt catching.

Sounds like your getting then on crankbaits. There is the same pattern going on pool 2 also. Most of the fish have been under 20″ so I have not been spending alot of time pursueing them. I was wondering if I stuck it out if I would find some bigger fish. Looks like I might have to next trip out.
    Thanks for the report

    Brian,

Thanks for the report. We have been pulling Bomber 24A models in the sand dunes up river in another pool (14-16 ft)over the past couple of days and have been having the same results you are having! If you are not pounding the sand, you are not getting bit! Dead on!

Do you have a timer on your digital camera? When I am alone, I will use this feature quite a bit and then zoom in and crop the picture later on when I get home. Just an idea!

In a post from 06/04/03 , RippinPigs told us about a neat product called ClamperPod for attaching to your camera for taking pics while fishing alone. I purchased one and it works great. Here is a link to their website.

Went out yesterday afternoon again with the plan of fishing with wing dams. On the way up river decided to try a quick pass on the sand and ended up spending most of the afternoon there. 2 to 3 fish per pass was the norm with a few nice ones thrown in. My son hauled in the nicest one that went 26″. This was a nice present for him since today is his 6th birthday.
Same pattern as stated above. I think we caught one fish on a crank that was not digging the bottom. Spent lots of time changing motor speeds. A sudden change of speed has been triggering alot of bites.
We did spend a little time at the end of the evening on the wingdams. Looked like a good bite was going on there also. Might have been as good as the sand bite if we would of put in more time there.
Back to the river for me now . More fish to be caught

thanks for sharing the info on the clamperpod!…. looks like a wonderful deal for a digital camera… Ill be getting one too…. now if only I had bought the Canon g-2, g-3, or g-5.. they have a screen that pops out and swivels and a remote control shudder it would be the perfect combo for taking fish pix of your self…. with the screen out and rotated you can actually see yourself and your fish… and when you got it right click the shudder (hmmmm how do you do that with a fish in hand? not sure!)
