I was out this morning for a short time. Tried casting cranks and hair jigs to the wing dams with no luck. Tried trolling the rocky rip rap with no luck. Anybody do any better over the week end? If so, how’d you get em?

I was out on saturday. Crankbaits where the only thing I could get them to go on. Only had one of my milk run spots put out a fish. At least that spot put out three 26 to 27″ fish. Spent a fair amount of time trolling crank baits on saturday. This did better for number but the size was way down. Mostly 15″ to 20″ fish trolling. 6A bombers in the brown and green craw patterns where good. Ended the day with 11 walleyes. 2 at 27″s, 2 at 26″, 1 at 24″s and the rest smaller fish. It was not a fast bite but it always a good day when you locate new fish.

A buddy and I fished pool 2 sunday morning. We only found a few eyes, but quality was there. I boated a 29 and he boated a 25. They wanted crawlers near rock with current. I tried trolling cranks and casting, but only caught sheepies and white bass. We tried trolling on the upper river too, but I believe the dropping water has moved the fish around. We only found one sauger and sheepies on the upper part of the pool. Maybe the time of day and boating traffic had more to do with the slow bite up river?

Nice fish Patrick? If your not going to catch many you might as well catch big ones. I was going to try dragging crawlers on saturday but my crawlers had turned to goo.

Very, very nice fish! That P2 eye has some shoulders!

Note to file….. Bring some live bait.

Here are a few I caught on saturday. This is a 27″ I found on a small rock hump in between to wingdams. These 2 dams had putt some very nice fish in the boat the last few weeks but held nothing on saturday. Found this spot by checking out what that that current break on the surface was between the dams. Got to love finding new fish.

Here is 24″ that came on another rocky area between 2 wingdams. Caught this girl trolling a crankbait that I think if you look closely is still in its mouth. Not much sticking out. I was happy to see the hooks where not in to bad and she was happy to head back home.

The third is a 26.5″ that came on a wingdam that has been in my milk run for over a month now. It has usually only provided a medium fish per stop and maybe a couple of good misses. The misses is what has kept me coming back. Saturday I had stopped on my way down river and pitched some baits at it with no luck. As leaving I decided to take a better look just down stream of the dam as there seemed to be a extra current seem there. Found there where some rocks running south from the dam so I decide to make a quick trolling pass to help get the lay of the land. Just as the lure was coming up the back side of the dam this girl hit. I was happy to stick a bigger fish in this area.

Later in the day on a return visit to this spot 2 more fish where hanging on it. Another 26″er and a nice 27″r. Both took crankbaits. I new there was better fish on this spot than what we had found in the past.

Hee is a photo of the second 26″er. The other photos didnt turn out so well. One has the head of the fish cut off. Guess I need to get better at timed photos.

Nice fish Mike! It is interesting that they are between wingdams like that. I know of few rock piles that sound similar. Maybe they had extra rock or dropped some off early between dams. It sure would be interesting to see what is the water in some areas. Maybe the fish transition back n forth between dams and hold in those rock piles for periods during the day? It definitely pays to try new things and areas down there. You never know what you might find.

I wouldnt be surprised if the walleyes are holding on these areas just like the wingdams. They had rocks and current. Just what a walleye wants.
