What do you guys and gals do when the mayfly hatch is like it has been last week? They were using shovels at conoco last night. So what does everyone do besides have a beer and watch the race on tv. Just wondering if the hatch was at the upper and lower parts of the river.
Wasnt that wild!? Ive never seen them that bad like at the conoco and the kwik trip. We drove to the south end of town and turned around (Looking at the flies) and the lights of lake city- it looked as if a fog had set in on the city they were so thick.
Buy a fly rod and try some big brown dry flys. We were fishing by lake city last night and the fish were going nuts on the hatch.Wish I had my fly rod with me.
Is there a difference between the mayflies that come out earlier in the year,,darker brownish looking compared to the flies that are coming out of the river now,,,light brown almost brown sugar colored ?
We had white mayflies popping up on monday eve…. I have to believe there are at least 20 different species of mayflies in the river….or Mille Lacs for that matter!
