“Bogsucker” and I decided to do some shore fishing on Pool 8 Saturday afternoon into Dark. As you all know, it rained quite well!

We started at/along the rip-rap on the South end of Lawrence Lake(where it connects to the main channel). Bogsucker put a slip-bobber out and had constant action with crappies, sunfish and sheepies coming in at will!

I tried jigging in the hard rain and wind with little action. Then I decided to throw some crankbaits. Bog snagged into a 4-5lb carp, with both of us hoping it had white-tips, to no avail. I got impatient and we decided to head up closer to the Dresbach dam. We tried the long rip-rap retaining wall next to the second landing on up to the Interstate Bridge with 0 fish!

The we headed up to the dam, fishing the long rip-rap shore(West Shore) that contains a couple wingdams. About fifteen minutes after sunset, I missed a decent walleye( around 19-20 inches) that caught me off guard right on shore! On the very next cast I had a boil with no bite, next cast no boil with a grab, yet no fish!

Afterthought tells me we should have stayed put at LAwrence lake. A lot of fish activity. Thought I would share info with those looking for on shore spots to try. Goodluck , Keep the rods bendin’!!!

That sounds like a typical day for me this last week! This week with the moon coming back I expect some better fishing.
