Since it is over, I was wondering if anyone is willing to tell how they caught some of the bigger weights and where they were doing it. I know that decent fish have been very hard to come by lately but it looks like a few teams managed to find them. Are the big fish starting to show up in the usual spots with the drop in temps. or were they doing something different?

Doesn’t appear anyone likes to give up the big fish spots! I can understand that. Send me a private message if you don’t want everyone to see. Catdad, I am going in the morning if you want to tag along give me a call. I will probably go about 7-8a.m. and be back by 3p.m.

I fished the tourney with Turk this weekend and we heard on sat. after day one that some of the upper leaders were pulling cranks on planer boards in one to two feet of water by Bay city on the rocks. Also heard that guys were throwing light jigs up onto the rocks , where? I have no idea. All I was concerned about was where our next fish was coming from!

This is one of the times when I can actually say that almost any where from dam to dam had fish. You just had to pick the best ones. They didn’t always bite, but in practice or the tournament we and freinds seemed to find fish here and there and everywhere. From 6 to 10 feet in the back channels north, the head of the lake, north shorelines. 2-6 feet on the north east side.(saugers suspended a lot on the lake 3 feet up in 15 feet of water , and in 12 feet. In Wabasha there was a lot of action on Wing dams with willow cats anchored. We caught fish in practice in the tourney with rigged crawlers or minnows. Pulling cranks in 6-9 feet of water in the back channels, and casting cranks on the wing dams. As dumb as it may seem it appeared that we would have done better on well known comunity spots than in our less well know locations. Minnesota and Wisconsin channels seemed nearly equal in production, both in size and numbers. James on this board knows them all and a bunch more. I would suggest a guide trip with him. Lawrence
