pool 2 flats

I spend most of my time on pool 2 either up close to the dam or down around 494. I have heard an area up somewhere along the upper end of the pool referred to as the flats. Exactly where are the flats?

Not sure of where that would be. There are a number of large sand flats on the river. One is about a 1/2 mile north of 494 on the east side. There is another right next to Holmen feild airport. These larger flats tend to show up on the inside bends in the river. Hope this helps.

The “Flats” doesn’t have anything to do with structure in the river. It is an old term that refers to the flat land next to the river where the Lafayette bridge crosses. Before this area was an industrial park it was an old residential neighborhood.
