Spent a windy day on pool 2 today. WInd over 10mph is just and big waste and makes no sense to me. To say the least it was tough fishing wingdams. Spent more time anchoring and trying to find bottom than anything. Did finely find some fish in the backwaters. Managed to pull 4 off of a point. 3 came on ringworms. Got three in a row there that went 23 to 24″s. The other was a 19″er.
Will be back at it again in the morning. Looked like a fair number of boats out this afternoon. Anyone else getting into fish?

Good to see you today. Tough day for myself and friend, the wind did make for some difficult fishing. We fished multiple wingdams and current breaks with the final total was 4 walleye with the largest coming in at 23 inches.

Mike, I was out this morning and did OK between 6:30 and 9:30 (maybe not coincidentally this was before the wind picked up to a full-gale).

I’ll be out tomorrow morning with my very young son, so not sure when we’ll get there, or how long we’ll last. I’ll be in the red lund w/ 60hp tiller. Feel free to stop by.

Did pretty well today out of the wind (mostly) north of the confluence. Only landed one walleye but I also got crappies, sheepheads, a pike, a whitebass, and a dozen or so smallies. It was pretty dead until the sun hit the trees. I got most fish on a 3″ Kalin tail. It seems to me sheephead act like walleyes once they’re hooked. That six pound sheepie had me going. As I was driving away from the Ft. Snelling ramp two deer casually walked across the road and stopped in the ditch to browse. I pulled up next to them, no more than 20′ away, and they just kept eating. Picnickers must feed them for them to be so tame.

Saturday was another good day on the water. Fishing was a little slow for me but still had fun checking out new area and enjoying a nice sunny day. I ended up catching 5 walleyes all right around 20″s. They all came on pitching 6a bombers to wingdams and rock piles. Working the lures real slow over the rocks and then pausing when the lure comes of the front face of the rocks seemed to be what they wanted. All my fish hit while holding the bomber still in the water.

How did the rest of you guys do?

Fished both Saturday and Sunday. Concentrated on fishing wingdams and shoreline rocks with cranks. Saturday morning had better action. No huge fish, but did get three at 25″, and a half-dozen others between 20 and 23″. Sunday afternoon had a bit slower action around mid-day, but the pace picked up between 4:00 and 7:00. The quality on Sunday was a bit better. Got one at 26″ and one at 28.5″, with several others between 19″ and 25″. Throw in a handfull of channel cats and a few drum, and it was an enjoyable couple days.

I hope to get out a couple nights this week. Fishing should be good.
