A little late post but maybe I could get some help for the weekend. Fished the last two weekends on p8 and will be on p11 Sunday to try our luck again. Last weekend we tried three ways with rapalas, jigs, bare hooks with crawlers, minnows and leeches, fished off the main channel along riprap, in back sloughs, in front of and on the backside of wingdams. Also tried trolling river rigs downstream but with very little luck. Did we hit the post spawn and if so any ideas out there on what to do? Any advice much appreciated.

    Thanks, Rogan

It might be time to go a little shallower and off the main channel and pull cranks through the sloughs. I’d try looking in that 6-10 foot water. I still think wingdams are holding fish. Cast the heck out them from the shallows to the ends with a jig/minnow or jig/plastic to find fish.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your $.02 Will-eye, I plan on trying on Sunday. If it works it’s worth a $1,000,000.

This is my first fish this year caught on a crawler harness. I boated 6 eyes just short of 15 inches and had a nice fish come unbuttoned after a good 3 minute battle I would like to think it was a sheephead
These fish were all coming out of a side channel on pool 8 and holding in 8-10fow with a temp of 63 degrees. Made for some fun before it was time to set up for Flatheads, which are still hiding very well from me Get out your crawlers people, the eyes are starting up again

Good luck on the water people.

Rumor has it that the wingdam bite has begun. I’m finding that the normal sloughs aren’t producing this year. I think the crazy weather changes we had, just kept those fish in the main channels (and the side channels) instead of the normal migration of many through the sloughs.

Thanks for the info gentlemen, I will keep those thoughts in mind. The wingdam bite is started to heat up here on P11, also if you want some bass head to the Guttenburg dam and fish on the WI side above the float, they were taking about anything you through at them.

    Thanks and Good Luck,
