Here’s a few from my weekend as well.

This one was 23.5″ long and was weighed by Dean at 5.5 lbs. I don’t weigh fish very often but this girl was a tank. Even Dean “I’ve seen a billion saugers” Marshall let out an “oh my….” when he saw it for the first time. After the photo she went back into the river to make more sauger babies.

This fish was caught on a ringie and 3/8 ounce Sour Apple Precision Head. You know its windy when you’re 20′ away from your target and you’re “drifting” 3/8 ounce heads to stay in control of the baits.

Mark took top walleye honors with this 28″ walleye, again caught on a 3/8 ounce head and a green core ringie. The water may be clearing up but the fish seem to want the brightest colors in the tub of plastics.

Sunday was a little warmer and the wind finally let up a little. Water temps were just starting to rise a few degrees from the low point of 36 were they had sat for a few days.

Here’s Matt Budny with a pair of 22″ – 23″ fish. One that had spawned. One that still had to get the job done. We caught them in quick succession and I thought they’d make an interesting comparison photo prior to releasing them. They sure do look strong and mean with that extra weight and girth this time of year.

The other Budny brother, Adam, took big fish honors again this year. (Last time he had multiple fish in the 26″ – 27″ class ) This time he lands a new personal best 28.25″ dandy that smacked a firecracker chartreuse tail paddletail fished on a 1/4 ounce sour apple precision head.

    Jim needs to be outlawed!

    Nice fish guys!

I was sitting at the relatics house yesterday afternoon in the sun and out of the wind…thinking…I should be on P4 watching the guys catch big eyes…while catfishing.

If we can get a rise in the water temps the fishing will really break loose. The next week – 10 days is going to be fun.

We went out with James on Saturday and had a blast. The fish weren’t the most cooperative, but we learned a lot. I just want to let everyone who doesn’t already know that James is a top notch guide who truly works his butt off to try to put you on fish. My Dad, brother, and I do a lot of fishing with various guides for various species around the country and can definitely attest to the fact that most guides don’t work as hard or seem to care as much as James does. The top fish for our day was a 23″ walleye that my brother caught, but we still had a great time. He caught his on a ringie with a sour apple head and just a little bit of Strawberry D. thrown in for good measure. Thanks again for the great day James. Don’t give up on that apple!
