The bite is on the upswing right now. The numbers are still on the low side but getting better. The fish my boat has been taking have been in the 17″-23″class.Pro-blue and chartreuse pepper paddle tails worked for me today. Don’t rule out minnows either. While observing other boats today lots of fish being caught on split shot and minnows or 3-way rigs and minnows, about 1 keeper for every 10 small fish but it’s action.

Like I metioned above, best fish today was a 23″ walleye. All other fish were sauger. I have not caught a decent walleye in the past 3 days. I’m sure they are out there but my guess is most of the big eye’s are up in the trees and I have not found them. Been trying without success.

The water is clearing up, it is still stained but not muddy. Keep an eye out for floating debris, there are some big logs out there that could do some major damage.

    Dustin,
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear the bite is on the rebound. Almost afraid to say it but it couldn’t have been any worse.

Any action pitching or have you had to stay vertical?

I figured it should be about ready to take off. The bite usually goes wild about 3 days after the conclusion of our 4 day trip to Evert’s. We left Sunday. Tomorrow should start really kicking some

Thanks for posting those pics for me Dean .

The pics that Dean posted are from my trip today. The numbers and size of sauger caught were very good. Ringworms and paddle tails are what was working for my boat. Anything chartreuse or firecracker worked well.

The sauger bite just finally kicked in today. I plan on taking some time away from the sauger bite tomorrow to pursue some of those big mama walleye’s up in the trees. Wish me luck

    Dean,
I bet it feels good to be able to say that again. The last week or two has been brutal.

Orca and I ended the 5hr trip on thur.with about 40 sauger and one eye,the largest came on an orange jig and little fishy minnow but most were on pink hair and live minnows. We fished in 7 to 12 ft.of water. Will be back out on sat rain or not.

Water temps on Monday went from low 44’s at 10 AM to mid 46’s around 3:30 PM, The bite wasn’t starting as of then when I left, but it looks like it did soon after that. Dean was very helpful in giving me some info on the bite Monday, and he was very honest when he said that the bite was slow. It helped alot to know that. All in all, I had a great time being on the water. Thanks to Dean for the help and the bait. Don’t forget, he’s got everything you need, including the best advise.
