How about a webcam at Evert’s like at Hunter’s?

    Dean: Hello, Evert’s Resort…Dean speaking…

Caller: Is the ice out yet?

Dean: Yep, the ice is gone…

Caller: Are the ramps open yet?

Dean: Yep, they are in great shape.

    Caller: Are they biting?

Dean: They are always biting somewhere, some places better than others.

    Caller: On what?

    Dean: Minnows, Plastics.

Caller: Got any minnows and plastics?

Dean: Hold on, I gotta get this gun in my mouth..

Picture this about 300 times a day?!?!

That has to be tough! A camera on the web would give me yet another reason to hate work.

Caller: Will they be biting on March 23 at 11:30 am on hair jigs?

The camera is a great idea… but people would still call. Guaranteed.

I was there for about an hour the other day and his phone must have rang 25 times and some of the same people called more then once…

    Honest question is:
What will the flow be like on Thursday afternoon, April 5th?
Will the ringworms still be going, or will it be K-grubs?
What about those hairjigs, will they work then too?
Do you think it will be a good bite then or not?
What is the best color to use then?
    How deep will they be?
OK! Thanks for the info……I’m not going to use your ramps, I’m going to save the launch fee and launch in RedWing. I can also get cottoncandy ringworms in the baitshop in RedWing.

And where are all Dean’s buddies come the MN fishing opener and the rest of the summer? I would imagine by that time Dean is glad for the break. I couldn’t do his job. DEAN

It would have to be censored when BrianK was watching the place. The sight of him devouring cookies is scary.

Don’t get me wrong, Dean loves dealing with the public and is VERY good at it…I just know I would have to put the phone down…walk down to the water, stick my head under and breath deeply for a few minutes.

An Idea! Have a daily recorded message with the latest update on the rivers conditions then an option for callers to “press 1” to speak with someone if they need further guidance/info… This would be so easy to implement and save alot of time and hardache. My 2 cents.

Somebody needs to call that guy at 4:30am and ask if they can get a half a scoop of fatheads.

rangerski, I thought the same exact thing. One message every morning updating the latest bite and water conditions would answer a lot of questions before they get to a live person.

But thats why Dean isn’t just another biat shop/resort. There is somthing to be said for getting a freindly voice. (Even if it’s Brian.)

I’ve offered to change his message everyday…but you know, as much fun that is made about people calling and the questions…he loves it! Deano is a people person. He thrives on things that make people happy…like…having items in stock that the average person can’t find anywhere else. He loves saying “Well, you can get them at Everts!”

    Here’s a couple new ones.

How high is the water? Up to my knees.

Do you have any winter specials on cabins? (pause) Um, no…

I think the web cam would be great! But all the guys skipping work to fish might not thinks so!

By the way if the ramps are froze in tomorrow morning…all BfishN Tackle products will be sold at half price…..until Dean gets back.

There would need to be a cam in the fish cleaning house too, I think it would be cool.

Brian and others, you have a good point in that Dean is a people person and there is something to be said about getting a live person on the other end. I haven’t heard Dean complaining about all the calls, just those of us who watch him in his element and think, “I would snap if that many people called with all the same questions all day long…”

Maybe we pitch in and get Dean one of those hands-free headsets so he does not need to hold a phone to his ear.

I have a complaint about Dean

Everytime I go there, I end up talking to him for at least a half hour before I can get out in the boat. He is just too easy to talk to, and I don’t spend as much time fishing as I should

Then when he tells me what the fish are biting on, I have to buy some new ringworms/blade baits/paddletails/jig heads, even if I think I have some in the tacklebox, cause a guy can just never be too safe when it comes to the hot bait.

Then he even wishes me luck, and sends me on the way, and tells me to stop back and let him know how the fishing was.

It is all just too much

I can testify first hand how frustrating answering those same 5 questions over and over and over and over can be! I can also testify what that means as a business to be called that much! People know about you, and they trust your word and MOST of them will come see you when they decide to go fishing. This website has done more for Everts Resort than any other advertising agency could possibly even think about doing. Trust me, those calls can get to ya some days, but I know Dean (and myself) appreciate everything this website has done for business at the resort! If the phone ain’t ringing, neither is the cash register!

This crazy time at the resort in the springtime is what makes Everts keep going! A few weeks of chaos is not that bad to deal with!…………….I will say though, the occasional person ringing my doorbell at 4AM to ask for smokes or beer or minnows was hard to handle! Keep up the good work Dean! I’ll call ya in the AM

    Hey Steve!
How’s the bite on the St. Louis?
    What lures are working?
    Is it a day bite?
    What depths are people targeting?
    Any big girls coming in?
Thanks! I’ll ask you again tomorrow!

I can,t speak for Dean But after a long slow winter the phone calls were like music to my ears.I got just as excited as the callers. I did on occasion mess with the ones who were less than polite or impatient with me however. This here 12″ super hogzilla crankbait with a banjo minnow trailer is the one all the good fish are coming on

Thanks for reminding me, I was trying to get fishaholik to give it up so I could get over there this spring. I never got a chance to give Steve a hard time at Everts before he moved on.

Dean, I hope to visit you one time before you get tired of it!!! Man I love cookies…

Yellowdog, you got cookies??? I know I will get to Alma to see Lee. Good to hear you’re in the store. I haven’t been lucky enough to meet you yet, I don’t think.
