I’m never satisfied, but 5a did really put out a bunch of fish today. My attitude was all about the tiny size topping out at 15 1/2 inches. 7 Days on Erie with very few fish under 4 lbs has really ruined me LOL…. Anyway two or three wingdams today were quite active. What is it with everybody and Willow cats… I had all three,(crawlers, cats, leeches), out again most of the day and crawlers blew both of the others away again today. Gonna do pool 6 for a mix of eyes and bucketmouth tomorrow with same folks and if the bucketmouth fairy smiles on me again tommorrow like it usually does on 6 we should have fun.

If you’ve never seen the bucketmouth fairy then you haven’t lived. She smiles on you and your livewell magically fills with piggy bass. Occasionally she get’s confused and they end up looking just like smallmouth …..get the picture.

I was on 5A Saturday Morning. I was pitching Flukes into the slop. 6 inches of water to a foot and a half under the boat. We caught walleys up there in the slop. Nearest water more than 2 feet deep was at least 1000 yards away. Water temp there was over 71 degrees. What is with these walleyes on the river? They act like bass, bluegills, catfish and northerns all packed into one.

1 nice walleye was caught over in the west channel back in that kind of hidden boathouse area and it was very shallow also and caught on a spinnerbait. Honestly your described area is a little bit suprising, but I am catching bass where I expect walleye and the other way around almost every day. Was there any size to the walleye????

Didn’t have my measure but were around that 15 inch range. Did you see any whitebass on 5A. Been looking the last couple of days and haven’t found any. Perhaps with the bright moon they are feeding at night.

Only place we found numbers of whitebass this week was on long sand points on the channel.

There are some early in the morning and later at night. At night I throw Rapalas and in the morning I throw blue jigs. During the day I get a lot of Sauger in that area. I haven’t been there in a couple months so I can’t give you an updated report but I am going this weekend so I can fill you in after the trip.

Hey Mike, Great to see you on board. Must of got a computer hey. The last couple of years I’ve heard there has been a 14 pounder caught by the same guy there. [in the spring I believe]. Are you at home or are you at your uncles place in Wabasha? Take care Buddy. Thanks, Bill

Hey Mike, didn’t get any Walleyes this weekend at the Float but don’t let that discourage you. Most of the time we get some. I did get some good sized Northerns, quite a few Sauger, a couple little cats and all kinds of Sheephead. I think it was way too bright for the Walleyes. Probably would have done better later at night than during the day. Also would have done better if you could keep the Sheepies off your line. Almost every cast brought one in for a couple hours, didn’t matter if you threw a minnow on a hook or a jig they would grab it.
