My brother Clarence,A friend from Work and I slipped the Crestliner in for it’s 1st voyage this year and the motor just purrrrrred! Nice, seeing as last time I had it out it sounded like a piston was going through the side…….Anyway…..We got to Evert’s about 4 ish and proceeded to go to dragging…..We dragged for about 2 hours with a couple different Ringworm colors with “0” to show! What in the world???? I was asking myself. Then the sun went behind the bluffs up river and someone turned on the feeding switch! For the next hour we proceeded to catch a dozen fat healthy Male and Female Sauger.I had a 18″ Male I could have sworn was a female! Anyway………..What color???? PRO BLUE on the Firetiger 3/16 oz. precision jig head from BfishN TACKLE. in 14 FOW.

My friend had never caught a sauger before and he was having a blast! Said we killed ’em! No we didn’t……But we did well!

But the question remains…did you catch any cats?

Sounds like fun Chap…I’m heading down there shortly to raid Deano’s cookie jar.

No walleye gear along, just to make sure I don’t get distracted.

Good to hear you got the motor all sorted, couple people I talked with said the bite when the sun hit the top of the trees is pretty darn good, I was just too darn cold on Sat. to go back out and fish the night bite.

That’s what I was hoping is that when it hit the trees! It was a 1/2 hour after that before we caught our 1st. fish…Almost dark! I got afraid so we quit an hour later!

With the melt coming this week through the weekend the bite should shift from a low light bite towards an all day bite. I don’t mind fishing early and late but if I can get them during banker’s hours so much the better.

A little color in the water will greatly improve out bite.

When you make a 4 hour trip, one way, for a days worth of fishing, its very valuable to be able to catch them during bankers hours. Leave home at 4AM, fish from 8-5, be back home by 10PM. I have really gotten hooked on Red Wing and Pool 4.

this has been my experience as well just to confirm. if you are fishing tomorrow or saturday, and you don’t get there before the sun comes up, it’s going to be tough. I wathced a boat catch 18 walleyes in an hour right next to me while i tried to get my trolling motor unfrozen! As soon as the sun even tried to start coming up, they literally shut off! Before they shut off though, it was totally nuts! Should be really fun when the water gets some color because there are so many fish up there it’s unbelievable.

I’ll agree with that! you can’t keep those little whiskered ones off your line in some places.

If James said it, That’s Money, Gospel..

With more current and some water color, the fishing can get down right brain-dead easy.. Heck even I can catch them then..

    See YOU on the water..

Can’t take it anymore, one way or another the boat is leaving the garage regardless of the driveway situation. It is beautiful out there today!
