Hey guys trying to make leadcore a big piece of my game plan come summer time after having GREAT success with it last year just bought 4 shimanos without line counters thinking about making 1 or 2 of them for core but curious on if you guys think a line counter is a MUST or not sice I usually go by how many cranks from the start of the next color usually anyways. Also are line counters even accurate with the line count with core as well or not. Just curious what you guys prefer I have 2 with counter and 2 without I think I should be alright but always ask I guess.

Go with the line counters for the difference you save without it is not worth the hassle. Pending your leader remains the same and never decreases in length it still makes a difference when you have fine tuned the exact amount you need to pop those fish. It also makes it easier to tell others how many feet then most of this color or two and a half colors. Each persons perception of almost all and half of this is never the same. As long as you have them all zeroed in before the day starts the lure will position the same on each set up. A numeric value is also easier to write down and quantify for future reference. Just don’t forget to jot down the crank used and speed current and or gps.

Line counter reels with lead core are not a huge factor! I DO use them but the only real reason is for a fast accurate deployment of line in a tournament situtation. You can usually get pretty close to where you want to be by counting colors and paying attention to your rod tip.

    Hope this helps

Erick go with the counters, once you get the fish dialed in, its easy to duplicate with the counters. I use the accudepth 47’s for my core.

Figured I am probably going with the counters now that you guys mention it since it is easier than trying to remember what color and how much and also getting 2 or 4 rods out at once and trying to go back and forth getting each one set thanks guys

you dont need counters on peppin or pool four. not deep enough to get any real use out of them. Experiment with your diff lures and areas and youll be fine, remember to pump that rod once in a while ,they like that.

Erick…I’m a counter guy for both the river (P4,5) and inland lakes. Hard to beat the precision they offer, and they really don’t cost all that much more than a good non-counter reel.
