I was out fishing from about 10 am till about 3 pm yesterday. I caught 10 walleyes. They came on long lining cranks, hand lining,3-way with a phelps floater/crawler,casting cranks and casting light jigs with a k-grub.It was a lot of fun. Most of the fish were in the 15″ range with 1 at 18″ and one at 24″. The river is setteling down nice and soon the wing dams should pick up nicely.

Here is a pic of the 18 incher

And here is my 24 incher

Some good walleye fishing is about to come..Get out there , be safe and enjoy !!

You know there is something I’d like to mention about the way I was fishing the other day…. Most all my fish were caught on either small cranks long line trolling, Phelps floaters tipped with a crawler and even casting crank baits.

After all this I decided to try out some techniques that I learned from the In-Depth Angling Video that James and Dustin put out earlier this spring. Reducing the weight of my jig was a huge factor for me. It’s a little awkward at first but after a couple of times, it starts to feel right. And where to put these light jigs with the bulky plastics is another thing. The info in this video tells what to look for in a shoreline, there working a riprap shoreline but I did the same thing, just no riprap…. That’s when I hit that 24 incher and boy she tried to rip the rod right out of my hand, leaving no doubt that there was a angry hunger going on at the business end of my St. Croix. If you haven’t gotten a copy of their video you must get one NOW !!! You can get them through the out let store on this web site; or if you’re in my area I have several copies for distribution.

Thanks James and Dustin for a real education right in my own home!!!
